A loose thought by Old Man River:

The problem with thinking of fishing as a billion dollar business
is that fish don't look at it that way
The problem with thinking of Earth's flora and fauna
as a business at all
is that Nature doesn't see itself that way
Until we recognize our intricate connection to Nature
as something primarily for Nature's benefit
rather than our own
We are going to continue scratching our heads
every time another species goes extinct
or a river dies of abuse

Of course, we are part of Nature
and every organism exists for selfish reasons
But if we are to add another thousand or 10 thousand years
to our numbers
We have got to find the least selfish way
to live selfishly
