Doggies come and doggies go. But not all dogs are created equal. Such is the case with Darwin. His father wanted him to become a doctor, lawyer or a.m. talk show host. But Darwin was determined to dig out his own destiny. In February 2009, he scratched at the door of Fossil Expeditions and asked if we were hiring. I said, "woof". He replied, "woof, woof".

I asked what he could do. He replied, "Nothing."

"Great," I said. "We won't have to train you."
