Rodent Master (Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake)
I encountered the snake crossing a trail in the Okaloacoochee Slough State Preserve near LaBelle. I was shooting with a Nikon D40x body and Nikkor 80-400 mm lens, which has a minimum focus of 7 1/2 feet. I gave it an extra foot or two more just to be sure...then laid down so I could view the snake at eye level. I tried not to act aggressive and just watched it slowly pass by before disappearing into the woods...each of us in a different direction.
