There's Something Here...

There's something here
I can't quite touch or see
Something ancient but still in the Now
Something that calms my breathing
yet excites my soul
Whatever it is, I am drawn to it
but don't want to alter it in any way
It's pristine and free of human meddling
A beauty of form and function and mood
I feel as if I understand it
but know I don't
It's simple, yet complex
It's of me and not of me
I am not a godly person but I pray
that I - we - will have the good sense
to leave it alone
to appreciate it gently or from afar
